Central Plus (proper spelling: center plus ) is a Swiss regional Internet newspaper . It describes itself as the news and community platform for the Lucerne / Zug region .

The Internet newspaper reports on politics, business, society, sport, leisure and culture and summarizes individual topics in dossiers. There are also blogs , an event and cinema agenda, film previews, restaurant guides and a weather report with local weather. All articles can be commented on. The website can be consulted in a web, tablet and mobile version. For the latter, the Internet newspaper provides an app for iOS and Android .
The newspaper offers a newsletter that can be subscribed to daily or weekly. The editorial team consists of five journalists in Lucerne, and there is also an editorial office in Zug.
Sponsorship
The publisher and operator of centralplus is MMV online AG, which has existed since autumn 2011 and is based in Lucerne. The former managing director of the internet newspaper watson , Hansi Voigt, is a member of the board of directors . Support is centrally plus by a foundation and the association MMV ( "Medien.Meinungen.Vielfalt").
Others
In April 2016 renewed centrally plus layout. Since then, the expected reading time has been given for the larger articles, and a new section entitled “Regional Life” has been introduced. Readers with ad blockers can only use the newspaper with a subscription.
In April 2016, a journalist from Zentralplus was punished by the public prosecutor of the Canton of Lucerne for trespassing after she reported about a squatting and entering the house. The authorities later discontinued the proceedings because it was not a deliberate act of trespassing. The property owner filed a complaint against the setting. In the subsequent hearing before the Cantonal Court of Lucerne, the journalist was found guilty in June 2019. The ruling, which is not yet final, triggered violent reactions in the media world and among Reporters Without Borders . As a result, Switzerland was rated two points lower than before in the ranking of freedom of the press.
In July 2016, the Internet newspaper conducted a testimonial campaign by, in a prominent central Switzerland , including the cabaret artist Emil Steinberger , explained why they centrally plus read.
In the fall of 2016, Zentralplus launched a series of church service reviews, which was discontinued after 10 episodes in April 2017.
