Gerónimo Pellerano

Gerónimo Bautista Pellerano Álvarez (born July 2, 1927 in Santiago de los Caballeros , † March 25, 1991 in Santo Domingo ) was a Dominican singer (tenor).

Live and act

Pellerano took singing lessons from Dora Merten at the Conservatorio Nacional de Música and from Mario Ferretti and Carlos Crespo at the Academia de Canto de la Voz Dominicana . In 1949 he appeared with Antonio Mesa at the Teatro Paramount and with Tirso Guerrero at the Teatro Independencia and went on a concert tour with the Colombian singer María del Rey .

In a film by Voz Dominicana he appeared with Milagros Lanty and the dancer Florens Zamora , and like many other musicians, the broadcaster encouraged him to be included in its programs. He had his first success with the song En dónde estás by Marcos Villanueva . In 1954 he made his debut on Dominican television with the Zarzuela La bruta del palmar based on a text by Pedro María Archambault and composed by Julio Alberto Hernández .

In 1957 Pellerano sang Edgardo in the opera Lucia di Lammermoor alongside Tony Curiel , Violeta Stephen , Armando Recio , Reynaldo Hidalgo and Gladys Brens . On an LP he sang with the orchestra of Rodolfo Manzano , the Trio Los Juglares and Cesar Peña and his group. Among other things, he recorded the pieces Irresistible and La noche que te conocí by Federico Asmar Sánchez and Corazón herido and El artista by Margot Rojas Mendoza .
