Armando Recio

Armando Recio (born October 28, 1927 in Santo Domingo ) is a Dominican singer (tenor).

Live and act

Recio's career was connected with the broadcaster La Voz Dominicana , in whose first test broadcasts he participated in 1952. There he not only sang Bolreos by Bullumba Landestoy and Neapolitan songs such as Torna a Sorrento , but also appeared as an opera singer, such as Gaston in Verdi's La traviata in 1957 . In Venezuela he later sang operas at the Teatro Teresa Carreño in Caracas. With the Súper Orquesta San José , conducted by Avelino Muñoz , he took part in the opening concert of the Panamanian channel Canal 4 .

Differences with the Trujillo regime forced him to go to Puerto Rico. There, in 1958, an LP was created on the Riney label with pieces by Dominican composers such as Juan Lockwards Sueño de amor , orchestral arrangements by Bienvenido Bustamante López , Babín Echavarrías Mentidos labios and Jimmy McFarlane's Para que me recuerde .

In 1968, the Zuny label released a collection of recordings by Voz Dominicana , including Mi gloria by Luis Kalaff , Siempre mía and Solamente tú by Babín Echavarría , Dueña de mi by Papa Molina , two pieces by Gonzalo Curiel and Jamás by Gabriel Ruiz . His repertoire also included compositions by Tony Vicioso , Bienvenido Fabián , Ángel Bussi , Cuto Estévez , Bienvenido Brens , Guaroa Pérez Oviedo and Rafael Gómez .
