Ger van Mourik

Gerrit "Ger" van Mourik (born August 4, 1931 in Amsterdam , † January 19, 2017 ) was a Dutch football player . With the AFC Ajax from his hometown, to which he had belonged since he was twelve, the defender was twice ( 1957 and 1960 ) Dutch champions and 1961 cup winners .

Van Mourik moved from ASVK to AFC Ajax when he was twelve. From 1950 to 1963 he played in the first team and spent eight years captain of the team. In total, he completed 277 games for Ajax, in which he scored one goal. He appeared six times in the European Cup Winners 'Cup , his debut in the European competition was in the game at SC Wismut Karl-Marx-Stadt on November 20, 1957. He also played twice with Ajax in the European Cup Winners' Cup and won international football with the club Cup 1961/62 , he was in the starting line-up in all games except the final. In 2013 he was honored for 70 years of membership in the association.

After his active time, van Mourik worked as a coach at amateur clubs, including at the Amsterdam ASV DWV , with which he became champion of the top amateur league in 1976 and won the KNVB Cup for amateurs in 1978.

Ger van Mourik died on January 19, 2017 at the age of 85.
