Gerald Thomas "Gerry" Adams (* around 1925 in Algiers (Louisiana) ; † August 7, 2018 in New Orleans ) was an American musician ( double bass ) of New Orleans jazz who was also active as a mentor in the New Orleans jazz scene was.

Adams served in the US Army after high school and worked in the traditional New Orleans jazz scene; He has appeared in the Marriott Hotel, Commander's Palace, Palm Court and the Preservation Hall . The first recordings were made in 1961 with trumpeter Thomas Jefferson and The New Orleans Creole Jazz Band . In 1964 he played with Kid Howard and His New Orleans Jazz Band. In the late 1990s he played with Rudy Balliu ( In New Orleans with Barry Martyn 's Down Home Boys ) and Sammy Rimington 's International All Stars; he was also a member of the Doc Houlind New Orleans Allstars Band ( The Spirit of New Orleans, Vol. 9 ), in which u. a. Also Ragnar Tretow , Wendell Eugene , Jesper Larsen , Doc Watson , Walter Lewis and Don Vappie played. In the 2000s he could still be heard on recordings by Brian Carrick and His New Orleans Heritage Jazz Band and Wendell Eugene & His Mardi Gras Band .
