Gerald Hörster

Gerald Hörster (born September 8, 1957 in Wuppertal ) has been President of the Federal Railway Authority since 2009 .

Career

Hörster was born in Wuppertal in 1957. After graduating from high school, he studied law at the Ruhr University in Bochum . After passing the 2nd state examination in law, he initially worked as a lawyer and worked for what was then the Deutsche Bundesbahn .

In 1987 he moved from the Federal Railroad to the Federal Ministry of Transport . Most recently he was head of the division for investment financing in the existing network when he was appointed President of the Federal Railway Authority in 2009. He took over the office from Armin Keppel .
