Armin Keppel

Armin Keppel (born November 22, 1943 ) is a German civil engineer . From 2003 to 2008 he was President of the Federal Railway Authority .

Career

After training (at the Deutsche Bundespost) and military service, he obtained his Abitur in 1967. Keppel studied civil engineering at the TH Darmstadt .

After graduation, he worked as a trainee lawyer at the Federal Railway Directorate in Frankfurt am Main . In 1976 and 1977 he worked as a research assistant for new route planning in the planning and design department of the central transport management . In 1977 and 1978 he worked as an assistant at the ZTP, then worked for a period of 25 years in the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Housing , initially in the railway department, and since 1997 as head of the department for special construction programs in road construction, including privatization and private financing .

In 2003 he was appointed President of the Federal Railway Authority and replaced Horst Stuchly after he retired. He was the second president of the Federal Railway Authority.

From 2007 he was also President of the Federal Railroad Assets . Keppel retired in 2008. His successor as EBA President was Gerald Hörster in 2009 .

In 2013 he was appointed to the project advisory board of DB Projekt Stuttgart-Ulm GmbH .
