Gerald Otto
Gerald Otto (born September 13, 1964 in Zwickau ) is a German politician ( CDU ) and has been a member of the Saxon state parliament since 2009 .
Life
From 1981 to 1984 Otto learned the trade of toolmaker in the Zwickau luxury forge . He then completed his basic military service in the National People's Army until 1985 . From 1985 to 1990 he worked in the Zwickau machine factory. After the political turnaround, he completed further training to become an industrial foreman in metal with a trainer aptitude test, REFA technician and controller, a trainee training at Schmidt-Bank in Zwickau, for which he worked until 1996, and later an A-1 training in the public service to administrative assistant. From July 1996 to October 2009 he was managing director of the CDU parliamentary group in the Zwickau city council.
Otto is an Evangelical Free Church , married and has one child.

Otto has been a member of the CDU since 1992. In 1994 he was elected to the Zwickau city council for the first time, where he has been the managing director of the CDU parliamentary group since 1996. In the local elections in 2008 he was elected to the district council of the newly formed district of Zwickau . In the state elections in 2009 he succeeded as a direct candidate in the constituency of Zwickau with a share of the vote of 34.1% in the Saxon state parliament. During the 5th electoral term of the Saxon State Parliament he was a member of the Interior Committee and the Committee for Rules of Procedure and Immunity Matters, and since April 2012 one of 19 members of the investigative committee "Criminal and Corruptive Networks" (" Saxon Marsh ") in the Saxon State Parliament. With the beginning of the 6th electoral term in September 2014 Otto is a member of the European Committee, the Committee for Rules of Procedure and Immunity Matters and a member of the NSU Investigation Committee (“Neo-Nazi Terror Networks in Saxony”).
As one of 18 German delegates, Gerald Otto has been a deputy member of the regional chamber of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe (CLRAE) since October 2016 .
In the state elections in Saxony in 2019 , he again defended his direct mandate in the constituency of Zwickau 3 with 32.1 percent.
