Gerald Ross

Gerald Ross (born September 26, 1954 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American musician who specializes in traditional American music styles - swing, formerly jazz, western swing, Hawaiian, ragtime and blues.

life and work

Gerald Ross plays guitar, lap steel guitar, banjo and ukulele. He has been active as a musician since he was 14 years old. Ross has given numerous concerts in the US and Europe and released seven solo CDs. Ross is currently touring mainly as a solo artist and prefers to play the ukulele. He also gives courses in ukulele and steel guitar at festivals and music camps. In the international project The Beatles Complete On Ukulele at the end of the 2000s, in which numerous well-known artists and bands were represented, he contributed the ukulele version of the Beatles song Penny Lane .

With the Lost World String Band (LWSB) Gerald Ross played guitar, ukulele, Cajun accordion and steel guitar from 1979 to 2011. The Lost World String Band performed several times in the A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor . The band's reputation for spontaneity and humor in their live performances earned them a spot as a musical act in New York's famous comedy club The Improv on the 1982 New Years Show.
