Gerald Voss (* 1956 ) is a German sports scientist and athletics official .

Life

Voss obtained his diploma in 1982 at the German University for Physical Culture (DHfK) in Leipzig , the subject of his thesis was "Investigations on support time during sprinting in preschool age". In 1985 he also completed his doctoral thesis at the DHfK (title: "On the interrelationships between speed and selected other performance requirements in acyclical rapid strength movements and possibilities of trainability of speed") and in 1989 his doctorate B (title: "On methodical possibilities of developing speed in form neuromuscular control and regulation mechanisms in high-speed strength sports ”). As part of his sports science activity at DHfK, he dealt with aspects of jumping disciplines in athletics .

In the 1990s Voss published several articles in the magazine competitive sport , in which he among other things the "training of elementary neuromuscular movement programs", the "connection between the training of elementary performance requirements and the performance development" and together with Frank Lehmann new training methods in the support phases in the Sprint and jump disciplines in athletics themed. In addition, there were training scientific articles in the magazines The teaching of athletics and athletics training: the teaching of athletics .

He built up a company with which he offered sports science services - including measuring station examinations - and sold equipment. Voss worked with sports associations, Olympic training centers and individual athletes, among others. As a speaker on sports science topics, Voss led seminars and lectures at universities, sports associations, sports science institutions and training centers. He also worked as an employee of the sports science provider Universum Private Berufsbildungs-Akademie GmbH.

As an author of sports science textbooks, he and Monika Bauersfeld published the book “New Paths in Speed Training” in 1992. He was one of the authors of the book “Challenge Schnelligkeitstraining” published in 2007 as well as the work “Basics of Athletics: The Standard Work for Training and Practice”, which was published in several editions.

Voss played handball , volleyball and basketball for a long time and worked as a trainer and functionary, particularly in athletics. In 1994 he became a trainer in the SV Frischauf 1892 Doberschütz and in the LC Eilenburger Land and vice-president of the association.
