Gerardo Miranda , full name William Gerardo Miranda Correa , (born August 30, 1963 in Montevideo ) is a former Uruguayan football player .
Player career
societies
The 1.68-meter-tall offensive player Miranda was at the beginning of his career from 1983 to mid-1988 in the ranks of Club Atlético Defensor . In 1986 and 1987 he was the top scorer of the Primera División with 11 and 13 goals respectively . In 1987 he also won the Uruguayan championship with the club. From July 1988 to mid-1990 he played for the Spanish second division UD Salamanca . From his debut on September 4, 1988 against CD Tenerife to his last appearance on May 27, 1990 against Figueres , he made a total of 58 league games for the club and scored eleven goals. Subsequently, he worked for Gimnasia y Esgrima La Plata in Argentina until mid-1992 . He is said to have played at least 36 league games and scored four goals. From July 1992 to mid-1993, he continued his career at Nacional Montevideo . Then he switched back to Defensor, which had meanwhile changed the club name to Defensor Sporting after a merger. He was last listed there as a player in 1995.
National team
Miranda was part of the Uruguayan U-20 selection at the U-20 South American Championship in Bolivia in 1983 . Uruguay finished the tournament as vice South American champion. During the tournament he was used six times by coach José Etchegoyen . He scored three hits. With the junior selection , he played the Junior World Cup in Mexico in 1983 .
He made his debut on September 23, 1992 in the 0-0 draw in the Copa Lipton against Argentina under coach Luis Alberto Cubilla with a starting eleven in the Uruguayan senior team . The second international match on November 29, 1992 in the friendly against Poland was also his last. He did not score a goal in the national team.

Coaching
Miranda worked as a youth coach at Defensor Sporting in 2010. From November 26, 2013 he was assistant coach to Fernando Curuchet in the coaching team of the professional team.
