Gerardo Ortíz (born October 5, 1989 in Pasadena , California ) is an American singer of Mexican music.
biography
Gerardo Ortíz grew up in Culiacan , Mexico, where his family is from. There he came into very intensive contact with music and recorded records as a child. At the age of 20 he returned to the United States and released his US debut album En vivo las tundras there in 2009 on the Del Records label . It helped him to a big record deal with Sony Music and Ni hoy ni mañana was released a year later . It peaked at number five on the Latin album charts. The album was nominated for a Grammy for best Norteño album the following year .
With his live album Morir y existir , he entered the official album sales charts for the first time in 2011 and topped the Latin charts. Ortíz established himself as a successful Latin performer in a very short time and his following albums were all equally successful. With the album El primer ministro he reached number 31 in the sales charts. In 2013, it earned him the second Grammy nomination. Ortíz is a regular winner of the Billboard Mexican Music Awards . With 17 awards, he has held the record there since 2013.
