Gerd Felix Eckelmann

Gerd Felix Eckelmann (born March 24, 1948 in Braunschweig ) is a German entrepreneur and was President of the Wiesbaden Chamber of Commerce for 20 years (1994 to 2014).

Professional life

Gerd Eckelmann studied electrical engineering (control and data technology) at the Technical University of Darmstadt and received his doctorate in 1976 with a thesis on network synthesis.

During his doctorate, he recognized the economic importance of the then still very rare competence of microprocessor programming and founded the Dr.-Ing. Eckelmann GmbH, Wiesbaden . Since then, the company has been developing and producing microprocessor controls and automation technology.

In 2001, the company changed its name to the unlisted Eckelmann AG and was managed by Gerd Eckelmann as CEO until June 30, 2016. On July 1, 2016, he moved to the Supervisory Board and took on the role of Deputy Chairman.

Honorary positions

Gerd Eckelmann has been volunteering for the Wiesbaden Chamber of Commerce and Industry since 1986 : first as chairman of the economic policy committee, then from 1990 as a member of the general assembly and from 1994 to 2014 as president.

In the association “Friends of Art in the Museum Wiesbaden e. V. ”, Gerd Eckelmann has been a founding member and chairman since 1994.

The Wiesbadener Sportförderung e. V. (WISPO) supports Gerd Eckelmann as chairman of the board of trustees. The annual 25-hour run in the Wiesbaden Kurpark for the benefit of WISPO was initiated in 2005 by Gerd Eckelmann on the occasion of WISPO's 25th birthday.

Awards

Gerd Eckelmann was honored with the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon on June 2nd, 2011 (certificate date: December 21st, 2010) for his “social commitment” . "His interest is in art and culture, social projects and also in sport," said Hessian Minister of Economics Dieter Posch on the occasion of the award ceremony: "He supports the socially disadvantaged [...] [and] is involved in many local associations."
