career

For the 1975/76 round, the young player was taken over from his own amateur team to the FKP's licensed team in the 2nd Bundesliga South. Geiersbach made his debut with the blue-whites from the stadium on Zweibrücker Strasse on March 21, 1976 in a 0-0 home draw against FC Augsburg . He was substituted on by coach Bernd Hoss in his home “Horeb” in the fifth minute of the game against the visiting team around Helmut Haller and Edgar Schneider . On May 23, 1976, he took the 1-0 lead in the home game against SV Darmstadt 98 . At the side of top performers such as Klaus Pudelko , Guntram Gentes , Hermann Kohlenbrenner , Torben Nielsen , Alfred Seiler , Harry Erhart , Georg Beichle and Dieter Weinkauff , he made a total of ten league appearances (1 goal) and Pirmasens took 14th place.

In his second season, 1976/77, he made next to Kohlenbrenner (37-4), Willi Schuster (35-1) and Josef Müller (31-4) with 35 league appearances and two goals with the most games for Pirmasens. The FKP remained in 18th place but only through the withdrawal of SV Röchling Völklingen in the 2nd division. From October 1976 István Sztani had replaced coach Bernd Hoss. Geiersbach had opened the round on August 14, 1976 with a 0-1 home defeat against SV Chio Waldhof and ended on May 21, 1977 with a 2-2 home draw against BSV 07 Schwenningen .

In the third year Geiersbach experienced a fiasco with Pirmasens in the 2nd Bundesliga. With 6:70 points and a goal difference of 25: 120, FK Pirmasens rose to 20th place in the table in 1977/78 in the amateur camp. The defender played his last competitive game in the 2nd Bundesliga on April 9, 1978 in the 1: 7 away defeat at SpVgg Bayreuth . In the only win of the season, on March 5, 1978 in the home game against FSV Frankfurt , a 3-0 win, he was actively involved. Ex-national player Bernd Patzke had opened the round as a coach, the player from the successful FKP times in the Oberliga Südwest, Horst Brill , then failed as a savior. Geiersbach had played 27 rounds.

The player from within his own ranks played successfully with the FKP in the Southwest amateur league for the next few years. In the year after relegation Pirmasens was runner-up, in 1980 they came in third place and in 1981 and 1982 they took fourth place. In this phase Geiersbach was again represented nationwide with the FKP in the DFB Cup . In 1979 they failed in the 2nd main round by a 2-4 defeat at FC Homburg and in the 1982 competition also in the 2nd main round by a 3-0 defeat at MSV Duisburg . Geiersbach was always in action as a defender.
