Gerd Grabow

Gerd Heinz Grabow (born September 15, 1928 in Weißenfels ) is a German mechanical engineer and university lecturer.

Life

He attended school in his hometown and then trained as a lathe operator in Halle (Saale) . After graduating from high school, he studied mechanical engineering from 1949 to 1953, specializing in power and working machines at the Technical University of Dresden .

From 1953 to 1972 Gerd Grabow worked in the VEB Kombinat pumps and compressors in Halle (Saale). From 1958 to 1969 he also had a teaching position on pumps and compressors at the Technical University of Magdeburg . In 1969 he received his doctorate in Magdeburg and in 1972 he completed his doctorate B there .

From 1972 he worked as a full professor for energy conversion and fluid energy machines, technical thermodynamics and energy conversion processes at the Bergakademie Freiberg . In 1995 he retired. On September 17, 2018, the professorship for fluid mechanics and fluid machines at the TU Bergakademie organized an honorary colloquium on the occasion of his 90th birthday.

Since his retirement, Grabow has published regularly on historical personalities in regional history magazines in the Ore Mountains.
