Gerd Pips (born March 28, 1939 ) is a former German soccer player .

Career

Pips belonged to Black and White Essen as a defender , he started for the club in 1958/59 in the 2. Oberliga West , ended his premiere season as runner-up behind Hamborn 07 and with this success in the Oberliga West , in one of five seasons as the highest German League, promotion. He was only able to enjoy this for one year for the time being, as he was the last of 16 clubs to relegate to the 2nd Oberliga West.

For Schwarz-Weiß Essen, he played 20 league games and three in the DFB-Pokal competition.

The elimination game won 6: 3 at Hertha BSC on August 16, 1959 , reached the semi-finals, which on December 12 was sensationally won 2: 1 after extra time at Hamburger SV , which had not been defeated at home for three and a half years . With the final, won 5-2 against Borussia Neunkirchen at the Kassel Auestadion on December 27th , he and his team achieved their greatest sporting success.
