Gerd Wilhelm Hoffmann

Gerd Wilhelm Hoffmann (* 1930 ; † 2014 ) was a German heat engineer and energy economist .

Life

After graduating from high school in Schwerte and two years of practical work, Hoffmann studied fuel technology at RWTH Aachen University with a diploma . Then in 1956 he became a production engineer in the central heating and energy management department of the Dortmund-Hörder Hüttenunion . In 1960 he took over the management of the heating and energy department at the Hörde plant .

In 1966 Hoffmann moved to Salzgitter Hüttenwerke AG and headed the heating department, then in 1970 he took over the management of the production control group and was appointed operations director in 1979. 1987–1994 he headed the energy and environmental protection department at Stahlwerke Peine-Salzgitter AG, regardless of the transition to Preussag AG .

During his industrial activity produced Hoffmann with Professor Rudolf Jeschar his dissertation Theoretical and experimental studies on the oxygenation of the combustion air in a pusher furnace at with which he 1983 by the Technical University of Clausthal the Dr. Ing. PhD was. In 1988 he took on a teaching position there. In 1995 he was appointed professor for industrial energy management at Clausthal University of Technology.

Hoffmann was a personal member of the Association of German Ironworkers (VDEh) since 1958. From 1970 to 1980 he headed the subcommittee for furnace issues there . From 1976 to 1994 he was a member of the Committee for Energy Management and Heating Technology , which he chaired from 1978 to 1985.
