Rudolf Jeschar

Rudolf Jeschar (born June 17, 1930 in Löwenberg , Lower Silesia Province , † March 31, 2014 in Goslar ) was a German engineer and university professor for heating and combustion technology . His specialty was industrial furnace construction .

Life

Jeschar grew up in Silesia , but fled after the Second World War and, after graduating from high school at Ulrichsgymnasium Norden, began studying in West Germany, which he completed in 1957 with a dissertation at RWTH Aachen University . During his studies he was active in the country team at the CC Pomerania Halle-Aachen and remained a member there until the end of his life.

After a few years working in the steel industry, Jeschar was appointed professor and director of the Institute for Heat Management and Industrial Furnace Construction at the Clausthal Mining Academy , later the Clausthal University of Technology , in January 1966 .

This was followed by 30 years of teaching and practical research in the field of heat and combustion technology, especially for industrial furnaces, but also other process heating systems, waste incineration systems, etc. a. In addition to research and teaching, Jeschar was active as a voluntary representative in numerous committees of professional associations ( VDI , VDEh , ...) and ministries. Furthermore, he took on tasks in the university self-administration of the TU Clausthal, was among other things dean of the faculty of mechanical and process engineering , prorector, rector and member of the senate of the university. The furnace construction expert was often jokingly referred to as “Ofen-Rudi” among students and university employees.

His Silesian origins prompted Jeschar to build up an intensive collaboration between the Clausthal University of Technology and the Silesian Technical University in Gleiwitz in the field of process engineering, which was also formally laid down in a cooperation agreement in 1998.

In 1998 Jeschar retired, but remained active as an emeritus until his chair was filled in 2001 .
