Gerd van den Heuvel

Gerd van den Heuvel (born May 30, 1954 in Dortmund ) is a German historian and Germanist .

Life

Gerd van den Heuvel studied history, German literature and political science at the Ruhr University in Bochum , where he did a thesis on the concept of freedom of the French Revolution in 1984/85 . PhD studies on revolutionary ideology.

Since 1985 van den Heuvel has been working on the Leibniz archive of the Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz Library - Lower Saxony State Library .

Van den Heuvel published numerous works on the Ancien Régime and the French Revolution from 1779 , on the history of concepts such as the history of Lower Saxony and on Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz and his time. He is a member of the Historical Commission for Lower Saxony and Bremen .
