Gerda Maria Raschke (* 1944 in Hamburg ) is a German artist.

Life

Gerda Maria Raschke completed an apprenticeship in graphics and decoration at the Werkkunstschule Hamburg from 1960 to 1964 . She then studied painting and fine art at the Hamburg University of Fine Arts with Willem Grimm and William Scott .

She took part in exhibitions in northern Germany, especially together with artist friends from Hamburg and her husband Meinhard Raschke. Her works focus on the North Frisian landscape, closeness to nature and life in the country.

With her mostly flat representation and the renunciation of spatial illusion or perspective accuracy, she creates dynamic picture compositions. Their technique reflects manual working methods: priming with putty, water and pigments you have mixed yourself or a mostly very pastose and plastic application of paint in oil, with surfaces that are partly worked out in relief or textured with sand or scratching technique.

Gerda Maria Raschke is married to the Hamburg artist Meinhard Raschke . She lives and works as a freelance artist in North Frisia and Hamburg-Langenhorn .
