Gergely Péterfy

Gergely Péterfy (born October 31, 1966 in Budapest ) is a Hungarian writer.

Life

Gergely Péterfy is a descendant of the poet Lajos Áprily , his father László Péterfy was a writer, his sister Bori Péterfy is an actress and singer.

Peterfy studied classical philology at the University of Budapest and worked from 1994 to 2011 as an assistant at the University of Miskolc .

He writes novels, radio plays and short stories. In 1998 he published his first novel. His novel, published in 2014, about the relationship between the Hungarian language reformer and free thinker Ferenc Kazinczy and the black valet at the Viennese court, Angelo Soliman , is also a response to the author's ubiquitous fear of the foreign in Hungary. Péterfy received the Aegon Prize in 2015.
