Hidden Intent is an Australian groove and thrash metal band from Adelaide that was formed in 2011.

history

The band was formed in early 2011 by bassist and singer Chris McEwen and guitarist Phil Bennett. After the original drummer had left the line-up shortly after the formation, Jay Rahaley came on as a replacement. In 2013 the band performed at The New Dead Metalfest in Adelaide and also played with Psycroptic , Ne Obliviscaris , Ouroboros and Hobbs' Angel of Death . In the same year they went on a small tour through southeast Asia , which included six appearances, with the band also being seen at the Bangkok Thrash Festival . In 2013, the debut album Walking Through Hell was released , for which a music video for the title song was broadcast on YouTube . In 2014 the band went on a seven-concert tour through Australia and also performed with Toxic Holocaust and Skeletonwitch . In the same year they went on a ten-part tour through Australia and New Zealand , in November the group took part in the Metal United Down in Perth and played five gigs in Southeast Asia with Imminent Psychosis in the same year. In the same year, the debut album was also re-released on Punishment 18 Records . In May and April 2015, eleven gigs with Artillery were held in China . In the same year, Hidden Intent also played with Helloween in Adelaide. The following year the single Addicted to Thrash followed, which had been mixed by producer Zeuss .

style

Brian Giffin assigned the group in his Encyclopedia of Australian Heavy Metal to Groove Metal. Andrew Sifari from metal-temple.com wrote in his review of the debut album that aggressive Thrash Metal can be heard on it, which brings back memories of the bands of the new Thrash Metal wave. The riffs in the title song of the electric guitar are groove- oriented, while the bass game sounds demanding. The texts are solid, simple and straightforward. The song in the title song is reminiscent of that of Phil Rind from Sacred Reich , with occasional use of high screams . An Australian accent can only be heard sometimes. The song Black Hole contains a guitar solo by Phil Bennett. His style reminded Sifari of Frank Blackfire at Sodom and Kreator . Matt Reifschneider from metal-observer.com also reviewed the album. Then you can hear old school sounding Thrash Metal, which is based on the style from the San Francisco Bay Area , but which is not very original. Most of the time you align yourself with groove-oriented riffs that are often played quickly. The singing is harsh and can be divided into three styles: In standard, "growled" singing that is a bit guttural , deep melodic singing in the style of Robb Flynn on early machine-head release and high-pitched screeching. The drums sound influenced by punk .
