Gerhard Beier (politician)

Gerhard Beier (born December 11, 1919 in Damerow , Belgard district ; † November 17, 2005 ) was a German politician ( SPD ).

Life

After finishing secondary school, Beier completed an apprenticeship as a surveying technician. From 1930 he studied at the State Building School in Berlin , where he passed the engineering exam in 1940. From 1940 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier and was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross as a lieutenant in March 1945 .

From 1946 Beier worked as a surveyor at the Spandau district office. He joined the SPD in 1949. From 1967 to 1979 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives . He was a member of the Committee on Construction and Housing. However, he hardly appeared in public.
