Gerhard Dahne

Gerhard Dahne (born May 28, 1934 in Berlin ) is a German writer, publicist and publisher and was the director of the Altberliner Verlag .

Dahne attended the officers' school in Dresden from 1953 to 1956 and became a lieutenant in the artillery. From 1956 to 1959 he studied German, education and geography at the Karl Marx University in Leipzig . He then worked for the Ministry of Culture of the GDR until 1979 , from 1974 as head of the fiction, art and music literature department. From 1977 to 1980 he was a member of the Scientific Council for Questions of Socialist Realism .

From 1979 to 1993 Dahne was the publishing director and managing director of Altberliner Verlag. After 1990 he was active in the German booksellers' association and was a member of the board of the Association of Publishers and Bookshops Berlin-Brandenburg. He has been retired since 1994.
