Gerhard Geidel
Gerhard Geidel (born June 9, 1925 ; † January 24, 2011 ) was a German marine painter and illustrator .
life and work
The autodidact Gerhard Geidel from Kleinmachnow was one of the most important German marine painters of the 20th century . He painted ships and boats of all types and times. His Potsdam and Berlin paintings, often historical views, are also popular.
Geidel's pictures can be found in many museums and private collections in Germany and abroad. In 1982 he exhibited in the town hall of Potsdam and after 1990 several times at art maritim . The illustrated book "Der Marinemaler Gerhard Geidel" was published in 1993 by Koehler Verlag, Herford. 2005/2006 exhibition of his work on the Hamburg museum ship Rickmer Rickmers .
