Gerhard Geisen

Gerhard Geisen (born September 1, 1941 in Wiebelskirchen ) is a German politician ( SPD ).

After graduating from high school in 1961, Geisen completed military service and studied economics at Saarland University from 1962 to 1965 . He then took up studies at the Comenius University, a pedagogical university in Saarbrücken , and passed the first teacher examination in 1968 and the second in 1971. From 1968 to 1970 he worked as a teacher in Dirmingen and then at the secondary school in Wiebelskirchen.

Geisen has been a member of the SPD since 1968. From 1982 to 2007 he was chairman of the local association in Wiebelskirchen. For several years he was a member of the Wiebelskirchen local council and the city council of Neunkirchen . In 1990 he was elected to the Saarland state parliament, of which he was a member until 2004. In 2006 he was awarded the Freiherr vom Stein Medal for his local political work , and in 2007 he was awarded the Willy Brandt Medal by the SPD . In 2009 he was also awarded the Saarland Order of Merit.

Geisen is married and has one child. In his private life, he is committed to TuS Wiebelskirchen , whose general association he has been since 2002.
