Gerhard Gleißberg
Gerhard Gleißberg (born July 27, 1905 in Breslau , † February 19, 1973 in Torremolinos ) was a German politician and journalist ( SPD , later DFU ).

Gerhard Gleißberg studied philosophy, German and English during the Weimar Republic . He received his doctorate in 1927 as Dr. phil. and worked as a freelancer for the Vossische Zeitung and various social democratic papers.
In 1933 he emigrated to Prague and worked for the SPD's exile organization, the Sopade . After the German invasion of Czechoslovakia , he fled to London . There he was appointed editor-in-chief of the social democratic socialist communications together with Wilhelm Sander .
After 1945 he worked for the Neue Vorwärts , which he led from 1948 to 1955 as editor-in-chief . After 1955 he founded the left-wing socialist Andere Zeitung (AZ) and was its editor-in-chief for 14 years. After hiring the AZ, he worked as a permanent editor of the Deutsche Volkszeitung from 1970 until his death .
Political career
Gerhard Gleißberg was a member of the SPD before 1933. Due to the establishment of the Other Newspaper , he was expelled from the party in 1956. In 1956 he was a member of the board of directors of the German section of the short-lived International Society for Socialist Studies . In 1960 Gleißberg was a founding member of the German Peace Union and served temporarily a. a. as a member of the federal advisory board, the federal executive committee and as state chairman of the party. He was on the Central Committee of the Association of Independent Socialists
