Gerhard Harbolla

Gerhard Harbolla (born November 25, 1935 ) is a former German soccer player. From 1954 to 1958 he played for Rotation Babelsberg in the GDR Oberliga , the highest league in GDR football .

Athletic career

In April 1954, Gerhard Harbolla, a junior player in the company sports community (BSG) Rotation Babelsberg, was part of the GDR junior national team for the 1954 FIFA youth tournament. In the five games after which the GDR took seventh place, Harbolla came to the Commitment.

At the beginning of the 1954/55 season Harbolla was added to the league squad of the BSG rotation. Of the 26 league games, the 19-year-old newcomer played nine matches, most of which he played in the first half of the season as a striker. In the second half of the season he was only used twice, in one game as a substitute. He scored three goals, his first league goal he scored on his second outing in a 1-1 draw against Turbine Halle . In the following four league seasons with a total of 91 games, Harbolla achieved a regular place in the team with 84 appearances. It was mainly called in the midfield.

In August 1956, Gerhard Harbolla was appointed to the junior national team for the international match against Bulgaria. In the game played in Halle (Saale) , which ended with a 3-1 victory for the GDR, Harbolla was one of the many newcomers to the team and was used as a left midfielder. As with his only junior assignment, he only had one junior international match.

After Rotation Babelsberg was relegated from the league in 1958, Harbolla played two seasons in the GDR league . There, too, he was still a regular player in rotation and was missing in only six matches in the 52 league games. In 1961 the first team of the BSG rotation was to be transferred to the newly founded SC Potsdam. However, the 25-year-old Gerhard Harbolla did not make the change and accepted to play with the second team in the fifth-class district class in the future.
