Johannes Athanasius Kopietz

Johannes Athanasius Kopietz (born August 31, 1843 in Strehlen , Province of Silesia , † after 1910) was a German historian and teacher as well as a Silesian local historian .

Life

Kopietz's parents were the teacher Johann Kopietz and his wife, b. Ender. He had the Catholic Creed. After obtaining his university entrance qualification at the grammar school in Schweidnitz , he studied history, philology and philosophy at the University of Breslau , with Richard Roepell and Hans Rückert , among others . In 1869 he was with the thesis "Quaestio de incursione per Mongolos in Silesiam facta anno 1241" about the Mongol invasion in Silesia in 1241 his doctorate . At the turn of the 19th to the 20th century he worked as a high school professor at the Progymnasium in Frankenstein .
