He then learned the profession of butcher by 1983 and in 1987 also passed the master craftsman examination and the teaching qualification examination. In 1985 he completed military service.

After his apprenticeship as a butcher between 1980 and 1983, he worked as a trader in his parents' livestock trading company until 1990, and in 1990 he started his own business in the export and import of agricultural products. He now works as a management consultant in Vienna.

politics

Gerhard Huber ran as a career changer in the 2008 National Council election and entered the National Council through a mandate in the Tyrolean electoral district. He was sworn in as a member of parliament on October 28, 2008 and, as area spokesman, took over the agendas for agriculture, development cooperation and South Tyrol in the BZÖ parliamentary club.

Huber got into controversy when he was reported by his former parliamentary colleague on July 18, 2009 for "inciting grievous bodily harm and murder"; in addition, his predecessor reported him as Tyrolean BZÖ chairman for alleged embezzlement of party donations. Huber emphasizes his innocence and has responded with contraindications.

Huber stated that "the published allegations are devoid of substance and legal action will be taken against those responsible for the dissemination." Huber was handed over to the judiciary by parliament on suspicion of fraud, tax evasion and assault.

From September 11, 2009 to January 27, 2010 his membership in the parliamentary club of the BZÖ was suspended due to these allegations, on January 28, 2010 this suspension was lifted again.

In November 2011, the public prosecutor closed all investigations against Huber.

On November 27, 2012, it became known that the Vienna Public Prosecutor had also closed all investigations against Gerhard Huber. Neither the suspicion of attempted incitement to murder nor that of embezzlement could be substantiated.

After the defeat of his Dein Lienz list belonging to the BZÖ in the Lienz municipal council election on March 14, 2010, Huber challenged the municipal council election and tried to prove this with 28 affidavits in addition to the affidavits of the former court president and SPÖ mandate Gerwald Lentner with 28 affidavits that should prove that his list received more than the 25 votes shown in the final result for his list in a constituency. When examining the affidavits, u. a. found that 5 signatories had voted in a different electoral district, 5 should not have participated in the election and one signatory was not eligible to vote.
In at least one case, a signatory was asked by a former BZÖ member (according to the magazine Profil ) to confirm in an affidavit that she had chosen the BZÖ even though she had not taken part in the election. After it became known, according to the magazine Profil, the corruption prosecutor's office is said to have started investigations against Huber. Huber distances himself from collecting these signatures and has considered legal action against the collector of the signatures.
