Gerhard Kander
Gerhard Kander (born August 27, 1921 in Mannheim ; † January 1, 2008 in Jamaica ) was a Canadian violinist of German origin.
Kander emigrated to England in 1939 and came to Toronto in 1940, where he was adopted by a family of lawyers. He was a student of Carl Flesch and Adolf Busch and studied in Canada with Kathleen Parlow and Naoum Blinder . He has appeared as a soloist with the Toronto, Quebec and Vancouver symphony orchestras in Canada and in the USA with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra under Pierre Monteux , the Minneapolis Symphony Orchestra under Dimitri Mitropoulos and the Cleveland Symphony Orchestra under Rudolph Ringwall . He ended his musical career in the late 1940s.
