Gerhard Koch (politician, 1906)
Gerhard Koch (born August 22, 1906 in Holtrup ; † January 22, 1983 in Bielefeld ) was a German lawyer in the financial administration. For the Social Democratic Party of Germany he was a member of parliament in local, state, federal and European politics.
Life
After graduating from secondary school, Koch studied law and political science at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen . In 1926 he became a member of the Corps Borussia Tübingen . He passed the first state examination in law in 1928 and worked as a court trainee. He received his doctorate in 1929 for Dr. iur. In 1932 he passed the assessor examination . He then worked in financial administration, most recently as a senior government councilor at a tax office . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in the Second World War as a soldier .
Koch joined the SPD and was chairman of the SPD district association Bielefeld. In 1952 he became a council member of the city of Bielefeld. From 1954 to 1961 he was a member of the state parliament of North Rhine-Westphalia . After the general election in 1961 he represented the constituency of Bielefeld in the German Bundestag until 1972 . He was also a member of the European Parliament from 1970 to 1973 .
