Gerhard Koppensteiner

Gerhard Koppensteiner (born June 2, 1931 in Spittal an der Drau ; † December 10, 2007 in Wolfsberg ) was an Austrian politician ( ÖVP ) and tax officer. Koppensteiner was 1975-1979 member of the Austrian Federal Council , and from 1979 to 1986 Member of the Austrian National Council .

education and profession

Koppensteiner attended elementary school from 1937 to 1941 and then until 1945 the high school for boys. In 1945 he switched to a federal high school and graduated from high school in 1949 with the Matura. Subsequently he worked as a surveying technician for construction companies between 1949 and 1951 and then worked as a tax officer from 1952 to 1987, completing the Federal Finance School from 1954 to 1955 . After 1987, Koppensteiner worked professionally as a management consultant and managing director, and in 1983 he was appointed official director.

politics

Koppensteiner was active as a local councilor in Wolfsberg between 1964 and 1991 and was vice mayor and financial advisor from 1970 to 1983. Within the party, Koppensteiner acted as city party chairman of the ÖVP Wolfsberg from 1961 to 1973, was ÖVP district party chairman from 1974 to 1987 and district chairman of the ÖAAB from 1970 to 1974. Between March 19, 1975 and June 4, 1979, Koppensteiner represented the ÖVP in the Federal Council, after which he was a member of the National Council from June 5, 1979 to December 16, 1986.
