Gerhard Korb (genealogist)

Gerhard Korb (* 1906 ; † August 15, 1996 ) was a German genealogist and editor.

Life

Gerhard Korb was already involved in family research at a young age. He is one of the founding members of the Working Group for Central German Family Research (AMF) and maintained the so-called KORB family archive in his place of residence in Regensburg .

From 1955 to 1986 he gave the series Die Fundgrube. A collection of genealogical material that was discontinued in the 1980s and contains innumerable works on different places, especially in Franconia and the Ore Mountains .

Korb also made more than 24,000 reproductions of historical portraits and made them available to other family researchers. At the end of his life, Korb bequeathed the negatives of his reproductions to the “ Der Herold ” association in Berlin. The names and dates of the reproductions are contained in the booklet series "Pictures of our ancestors" in the treasure trove , which also contain dates about spouses, places and years.
