Gerhard Kramer (communications engineer)

Gerhard Kramer (born April 8, 1970 in Winnipeg , Canada ) is a German communications engineer and professor at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at the Technical University of Munich .

Life

Kramer studied electrical engineering at the University of Manitoba in Canada and received his doctorate in 1998 from the ETH Zurich . He then worked at Alcatel-Lucent and became a professor at the University of Southern California (USC) in Los Angeles in 2009 . Since 2010 he has been Alexander von Humboldt Professor at the Chair of Telecommunications at the Technical University of Munich and since 2019 Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation.

Scientific work

Kramer conducts research in the fields of communications engineering and information theory. The focus is on wireless and fiber optic transmission channels .
