Gerhard Loeh

Gerhard Löh (born May 26, 1936 in Saarbrücken ) is a German chess player . He is a grandmaster in correspondence chess .

Correspondence chess

Due to time constraints, Löh mainly plays correspondence chess. In 1975 he won the BdF anniversary cup tournament with 6.5 out of 8 points. So he qualified for the finals of the 15th German correspondence chess championship. Here he took a place in the midfield in 1978. At the same time, he won both games in the international match between Germany and Yugoslavia and took part in the 3rd European team championship. In 1988/90 he reached 4th place in the strong jubilee tournament "50 Years SSKK Sweden" with 8 out of 12.

For his successes he was awarded the title International Correspondence Chess Master by the World Correspondence Chess Federation ICCF in 1985 and Grand Master in 1991 .

In the ICCF ranking list 1993 Löh was listed with a rating of 2568. He has been inactive since then.

In the mid-1970s, Löh played with the team of SG Saarbrücken in the (at that time still four-track) Bundesliga chess league .

Private

Löh worked as an authorized representative in a iron and steel works in Saarland. He is married and has two daughters and a son.
