Gerhard Müller (Admiral)

Gerhard Müller (born May 18, 1941 in Leipzig ) is a former German rear admiral of the People's Navy .

After attending secondary school, Müller completed vocational training as a mechanic at Funkwerk Leipzig from 1957 to 1960. On August 1, 1960, he joined the People's Navy and took part in a one-year training course at the Naval Officer School in Stralsund . This was followed by a five-year course at the Higher Naval Officer School in Baku in what was then the Soviet Union , from which he graduated as a graduate engineer.

In 1966, Müller was deployed as an officer on watch on board a high-speed rocket boat of the Sixth Flotilla . From 1967 he was deputy department head for political work, from 1970 deputy department head for missile deployment and from 1971 department head for rocket high-speed boats.

From 1973 to 1976 Müller studied at the Naval War Academy in Leningrad . After graduating from the academy, from 1976 to 1981 he became head of the 3rd rocket torpedo speedboat brigade in the 6th flotilla in Dranske on Rügen. He was then deputy chief of staff of the 6th Flotilla from 1981 to 1985 . In 1985 Müller was transferred to Rostock - Warnemünde as head of the 4th flotilla and was appointed rear admiral there on February 21, 1989 . In the spring of 1990, Müller switched to the Volksmarine command in Rostock as Deputy Chief Rear Services and Chief of Staff of the Rear Services, then Deputy Chief of the Volksmarine for Rear Services. He was released from active service on October 2, 1990.
