Rüdiger Wenzke

Rüdiger Wenzke (born July 5, 1955 in Baruth / Mark ) is a German historian . He is Senior Scientific Director at the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr .

Life

Wenzke studied history from 1976 to 1981 at the University of Leipzig . He then worked as a research assistant and later as a senior assistant at the Military History Institute of the GDR in Potsdam. In 1986 he was promoted to Dr. phil. PhD.

After the peaceful revolution in the GDR , he was taken over by the Military History Research Office (MGFA) in 1990/91 and initially worked here in Research Area IV, Military History of the GDR in the Alliance (the Warsaw Pact). In 2008/09 he was acting head of the research area. In 2013 he became project manager for the military history of the GDR in the research area military history since 1945. Since 2014 he has been head of the research area for military history after 1945 at the Center for Military History and Social Sciences of the Bundeswehr. Wenzke has the official title of Senior Scientific Director.

His research work includes numerous essays and monographs on the military history of the GDR and the Warsaw Pact .
