Gerhard Pyrek (born March 27, 1940 ) is a former German soccer player who played in GDR soccer for SC Neubrandenburg and TSG Wismar in the 1960s and 1970s .

Athletic career

Until 1962, Gerhard Pyrek played with the agricultural company sports association (BSG) Traktor Nossentiner Heide in the then fourth-class district league Neubrandenburg . At the beginning of the 1962/63 season, he joined the second-rate GDR league promoted SC Neubrandenburg. Of the 26 point games, he completed 14 games and was successful with eight goals. After he had only been used in six league games in 1963/64 and SC Neubrandenburg had been promoted to the GDR league , Pyrek moved within the GDR league to TSG Wismar. There he immediately became a regular player as a striker, played 27 times in 30 league games and was Wismar's top scorer for the first time with 14 goals . With ten, eight and thirteen goals, he was again the best scorer in his team in 1968, 1969 and 1972. Until 1974 Pyrek had a regular place in every season. In 1972 he was with the TSG league season winner and took part in the promotion games to the league. He completed all eight matches, scored two of the eleven goals in Wismar, but his team was only fourth out of five teams and thus missed promotion. Pyrek was 34 years old when he went into his last GDR league season in 1974/75. After he had only been used in two league games and was the first time since 1964 without scoring, he ended his career in competitive football in the summer of 1975. Within 13 seasons he had played 250 GDR league games in which he had scored 87 goals. There were also eight promotion games with two goals.
