Gerhard Roesschen
Gerhard Rößchen (born May 20, 1927 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper. In 1953/54 he was in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football , for Stahl Thale in goal.
Athletic career
When the company sports association (BSG) Motor Köthen was relegated from the third-class Halle district league in 1953 , several players left the BSG, including goalkeeper Gerhard Rößchen. He moved to the GDR upper division Stahl Thale, where the emigrated goalkeeper Heinz Bernhardt had to be replaced. After three attempts with Heinz Schulze , coach Erich Blanke put Gerhard Rößchen in goal from the fourth match day. This could not be displaced again and completed 24 point games by the end of the season. Then Stahl Thale rose from the league.
Rößchen changed again and joined the second relegated from the previous season Motor Dessau for the 1954/55 season . There he stood in goal until 1962 and completed 83 of 117 championship games in four GDR league seasons. Between 1958 and 1960 he played with BSG Motor in the third class, 2nd GDR league .
