Heinz Bernhardt (born June 20, 1926 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper. For EHW / Stahl Thale he played 98, for Lok Stendal 13 games in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football . With Stahl Thale he won the GDR Cup in 1950 and played two international matches with the GDR B team.
Athletic career
Bernhardt played until 1949 at SG ECW Eilenburg, with whom he won the cup in Saxony-Anhalt that year and was represented in the GDR Cup in the quarter-finals. For the 1949/50 season Bernhardt went to SG EHW Thale . With the ironworks he became Saxony-Anhalt master in 1950, and they qualified for the GDR Oberliga in the following round of promotion. Then Thale took part in the GDR soccer cup and reached the final. With Bernhardt in goal, SG EHW won the cup with a 4-0 win over BSG KWU Erfurt. In their first league season 1950/51, SG Eisenhüttenwerk Thale also went in goal with Heinz Bernhardt. He was used from the first league game and played 30 of the 34 point games played. During the season, the sports community EHW was in the Sports Association (BSG) has been converted steel Thale. In the following two seasons, Bernhardt was in all 68 league games in the goal of BSG Stahl. In the spring of 1953 he played two international matches with the B national team , including their premiere game against Poland in Leipzig.
At the beginning of the 1953/54 season Bernhardt moved together with his teammate Günter Weitkuhn to the league club BSG Turbine Halle . He was supposed to be the second goalkeeper behind Wolfgang Meininger , but was not used until the end of the first half of the season. Bernhardt then made another change and joined league rivals Lok Stendal . There he was able to oust the previous goalkeeper Günter Reh and was in the Stendaler Tor thirteen times by the end of the season. Then Lok Stendal had to relegate from the league. Bernhardt then returned to Thale and played a second division game for BSG Stahl in the 1954/55 season .
