Gerhard Radeck (born August 16, 1958 in Bochum ) is a German former senior police officer and since September 2016 District Administrator of the Helmstedt district .

Life and professional history

Radeck grew up in Glentorf near Königslutter am Elm ( Helmstedt district ). After completing secondary school, Radeck completed an apprenticeship as an industrial clerk (Braunschweigische Maschinenbauanstalt / BMA). In 1978 he was sworn in as a detective for the Lower Saxony state police. In 1986 he acquired the technical college entrance qualification and graduated from a university of applied sciences in Hildesheim in 1989 with a degree in administrative management / police department. From 1993 to 1995 Radeck studied at the Police Command Academy in Münster, today's German Police University (DHPol).

In his police career Radeck has performed various activities in middle, middle and senior police, so he was also clerk for economic crime, lecturer at the FH Hildesheim and 12 years as head of the criminal police Wolfsburg. In 2006, Radeck was temporarily head of the Braunschweig-Mitte police station and in 2007 head of the presidential department (Department 01) at the Braunschweig police chief. At the federal level, Radeck represented the Lower Saxony police in the immigration working group of the subcommittee on leadership, action and the fight against crime (UAFEK) from 2014 to 2016.

After more than 38 years in the police service of the State of Lower Saxony, Radeck was officially dismissed from the police service in September 2016 after being elected as district administrator for the district of Helmstedt.

Radeck has been a certified process facilitator since 2010 . In addition to his professional career, Radeck volunteers in various sports clubs and the volunteer fire department . From 2000 to 2010 Radeck member of the state board of was Confederation of German Detectives (BDK) is responsible for the training of young scientists of the criminal police in Lower Saxony.

Radeck is married to the police officer Kathleen Radeck and lives in Helmstedt. They have two grown sons.

The then non-party Radeck was nominated on November 25, 2015 by the CDU as a candidate for the 2016 district election in the Helmstedt district. In the district election on September 11, 2016, he received 43.35% of the vote, the other candidates Hans Werner Schlichting (SPD) 42.07%, Jörg Pohl (independent) 9.1% and Ulrich Engelke (Die Linke) 5.4 %. In the runoff election on September 25, 2016, Radeck prevailed with 60.7% of the votes against Schlichting (SPD) with 39.3% of the votes.

On September 28, 2016, Radeck was appointed District Administrator of the Helmstedt district. He has been a member of the CDU Helmstedt since November 1, 2017.
