Gerhard Ritzberger

Gerhard Ritzberger (born October 22, 1924 in Thening ) is an Austrian farmer and politician ( ÖVP ). From 1961 to 1985 he was a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament .

Life

Gerhard Ritzberger first attended elementary school in Kirchberg, then the secondary school in Linz , where he graduated in 1942. He was then called up by the Wehrmacht ; At the end of the war, Ritzberger, who was wounded twice, was a lieutenant. From 1946 to 1950 he studied at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna, then at the University of Oklahoma . The studies were followed by internships in Canada and South America. In 1958 Ritzberger took over his parents' so-called "Minichmayr" farm. A year later he married his wife Therese; the couple had two daughters and one son.

In addition to his work as a farmer, Ritzberger also took on a large number of tasks in the cooperative area, including the beet farmers' cooperative and the cattle and meat company. He was chairman of the Raiffeisenkasse Thening and from 1971 also member of the board of the Raiffeisenverband Oberösterreich, from 1981 as second representative of the cooperative. In 1974 Ritzberger became chairman of the Raiffeisen-Zentralkasse, of which he had been a member since 1970. In the same year he became a cooperative representative in the plenary assembly of the Chamber of Agriculture . In addition, as chairman of the farmers' health insurance fund in Upper Austria, he played a key role in setting up the social insurance institution for farmers .

Political activity

From 1955 to 1967 Ritzberger was chairman of the Kirchberg-Thening farmers ' union; In 1966, as treasurer, he became a member of the board of the Upper Austrian Farmers' Union and in 1973, he was the regional chairman of Linz-Land. In 1961 Ritzberger was elected to the Upper Austrian Landtag , to which he was a member until 1985, most recently as chairman of the finance committee. He was also a local councilor and parliamentary group leader of the ÖVP in Thening from 1967 to 1981.
