Gerhard Schütze

Gerhard Sagittarius (* 10. March 1897 in Neugattersleben ; † 1951 in West Berlin ) was a German lawyer and post-war politics of the CDU in the Soviet Occupation Zone (SBZ). He was a man of resistance against National Socialism and the SED dictatorship. From 1946 to 1949 he was a member of the Brandenburg State Parliament .

education and profession

After graduating from high school, Gerhard Schütze studied law and obtained his doctorate in law . jur. From 1931 he established himself as a lawyer and notary in Brandenburg an der Havel .

politics

In September 1943 he was arrested by the secret state police in Potsdam and - without a trial - held in the Sachsenhausen concentration camp . After being rescued from the death march from the concentration camp in April 1945, he returned to Brandenburg.

There he was one of the founders of the CDU Brandenburg . He was the first district chairman and from April 1946 to March 1949 deputy state chairman of the CDU in Brandenburg. In the 1st state election in the Soviet Zone in 1946, he was elected to the Brandenburg state parliament for the CDU. In the state parliament he was parliamentary group leader of his party. After the accidental death of Dr. Wilhelm Wolf , he was elected Vice President of the Brandenburg State Parliament on June 9, 1948. In 1948/49, under pressure from the Soviet military administration, public relations work for the 2nd state election in the Soviet Zone began. According to this, the political parties should stand for election in a single list in order to secure the supremacy of the SED. His refusal to consent triggered massive pressure on him after his illness to resign from his political mandates. This development was the reason for the escape from the Soviet Zone in March 1949. Schütze died in West Berlin .
