Gerhard Scholten

Gerhard F. Scholten (born August 16, 1923 in Trautenau in the Riesengebirge , Czechoslovakia ; † April 21, 1995 in Vienna ) was an Austrian author .

Life

Gerhard Scholten was born into an industrial family in Trautenau, came to Prague in 1930 and attended the Stefansgymnasium there. In 1944 he was arrested by the Gestapo because of his Jewish origin and later deported to a concentration camp . After the end of the war, Scholten was denounced as a German and arrested by the Czechoslovak state security . In 1947 he was able to flee to Austria. In 1953 he married Sophie van der Straten-Ponthoz in Vienna .

His son Rudolf Scholten was the Austrian Minister of Education.
