Gerhard Schulz (born June 15, 1911 ; † unknown) was a German football player .

Player career

Gerhard Schulz made his debut as a 20-year-old for the first team of Hertha BSC on matchday 6 of the 1931/32 season in the 2-0 home defeat against NSC Südstern 08 . He then played all the remaining games of the season and at the end of the season had 16 hits in 13 games. Only Bruno Lehmann scored more often with 21 goals in 16 appearances. Nevertheless, Hertha could not win the VBB-Oberliga for the first time since 1924 . But this notch was wiped out the following season. Schulz only ran six times, but still scored ten goals. In the final round of the German championship , the striker played the only game, but had to admit defeat with the old lady Hindenburg Allenstein 1: 4. In 1933/34 Hertha was only second behind BFC Viktoria 1889 , although Hertha had the best storm in the league thanks to Schulz, who contributed eleven goals in 13 appearances. In the following season, however, Hertha won just ahead of Victoria. With four appearances (one goal), Schulz didn't get as much playing time as in the previous season. In the final round of the German championship in 1935 he then played three games in which he scored three goals; all in the 9-0 victory at Yorck Boyen Insterburg . Due to two defeats at the end of the group phase, the Berliners had to cope with the elimination behind PSV Chemnitz . 1935/36 did not go according to plan for either Schulz or Hertha. Schulz only managed five goals and Hertha missed the championship that was believed to be safe with two defeats at the end of the season against Tennis Borussia (1: 3) and SC Nowawes 03 (0: 2). But already in the following year Hertha was on top again, which Schulz, who was top scorer with 16 goals, played a major role. In the final round of the German championship in 1937 , Schulz lost his regular place after three games and eliminated with Hertha in the end behind FC Schalke 04 and Werder Bremen in the group stage. Also in 1937/38 Gerhard Schulz was the club's top scorer with eleven goals. At the end of the season, however , the blue-whites missed the title win due to the poorer goal quotient behind the BSV 92. In the following season Schulz only scored three goals and had to accept the disappointment that Hertha was repeatedly second because of the poorer goal difference - this time behind Blau-Weiß 90 . Schulz then no longer played a competitive game for Hertha, although he was a member of the club until 1943.
