Manuela Better

Manuela Better (born November 11, 1960 in Munich ) is a German risk and restructuring expert in the financial sector and was CEO of Hypo Real Estate Holding AG from 2010 to 2014 .

Professional career

Manuela Better studied business administration in Munich and Augsburg after training as a bank clerk . Her career started in 1988 at Bayerische Vereinsbank AG with a trainee training in international real estate finance in Frankfurt and London. In 1994 Better became Head of International Real Estate Finance.

In 1998 she moved to the HVB subsidiary FGH Bank in Utrecht , initially as Head of Business Development / IT, and from 2000 as a member of the Management Board. In 2004 Better was appointed to the Management Board of Hypo Real Estate Holding AG , initially as Head of Commercial Real Estate Origination Asia; Between 2008 and 2009 she headed the HRE subsidiary Depfa plc in Dublin , and from 2009 she was a non-executive board member of Depfa and board member of Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG as well as CEO of Hypo Real Estate Holding AG.

In March 2010 she replaced the former HRE CEO Axel Wieandt . Due to the decision of the FMSA against the negotiated sale of depfa plc in the course of the reprivatisation of Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG, it asked the federal government in June 2014 to release it from its obligations with immediate effect. Since June 1, 2015, Better has been Chief Risk Officer at DekaBank in Frankfurt / Main. In 2019 it was announced that she will not renew her contract, which will expire in May 2020.
