Gerhard Streit

Gerhard Heinrich Richard Streit (born May 14, 1914 in Berlin , † June 16, 1977 in Cologne ) was a German jockey in horse racing .

Gerhard Streit was born as the son of trainer Bernhard Streit. He began his apprenticeship as a jockey with trainer Robert Adams and finished it with James Cooter, who both worked, one after the other, at the racing stable of the brothers Arthur and Carl von Weinberg , the owners of the Waldfried stud near Frankfurt am Main .

Streit achieved 926 victories in his career, including eight German Derby , a series that is unmatched to this day.

Streit last lived in Cologne and died there in 1977 at the age of 63. He was widowed by Emmi Klara née Schmidt, whom he married in Dahlwitz-Hoppegarten in 1939 .
