Gerhard Völkner

Gerhard Völkner (born March 8, 1925 ) is a former German trade unionist and SED functionary. He was chairman of the Schwerin district executive of the Free German Trade Union Federation (FDGB).

Life

Völkner worked as a commercial clerk and industrial clerk. He joined the SED and was First Secretary of the District Committee of the National Front in Schwerin in 1955/56 . He then studied at the party college "Karl Marx" with a degree in social science .

Völkner was a member of the Schwerin district board of the FDGB. From 1959 he acted as deputy chairman, then from June 1961 to January 29, 1964 as chairman of the Schwerin district board of the FDGB. From 1962 to 1968 Völkner was also a member of the federal executive committee of the FDGB.

Völkner was a member of the Schwerin district leadership of the SED. From 1971 to 1976 he was the second secretary of the SED district leadership in Schwerin-Stadt. From 1977 he acted as secretary of the Schwerin District Committee of People's Solidarity .
