Gerhard Wazel (born March 24, 1939 in Niederfalkenau near Děčín ) is a German specialist in German and English.

Fields of activity

After studying to be a teacher in German, English and pedagogy at the University of Jena (1957–1962), Wazel passed the state examination before becoming a Dr. phil. and in 1978 Dr. sc. paed. received his doctorate. From 1962 to 1964 he worked as a teacher for German and English at the Humboldt High School in Erfurt, then from 1964 to 1991 as a research assistant and later as a university professor at the University of Jena . His teaching and research activities also extend to universities and language institutes in Belgium, Bosnia, Finland, Denmark, Germany, France, Georgia, India, Italy, Canada, Kazakhstan, Luxembourg, Nigeria, Norway, Austria, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Spain, Switzerland, the Czech Republic and the USA. Gerhard Wazel is the author and editor of publications, teaching materials and software in the areas of didactics - German as a foreign language , applied linguistics , intercultural communication and multimedia / interactive media in education, business and administration.

Intercultural communication

As a founding member and managing director, Wazel has been working at the Institute for Intercultural Communication (IIK) since 1991 . The association wants to "contribute to international understanding through courses, seminars, conferences, symposia, excursions, through the promotion of scientific research projects, through the production of publications, translations, multimedia productions, through contacts and encounters between people from German, European and non-European regions."
